Our camp is small and run by local Thai people with the intention that tourists who visit get the feeling they are more an ‘invited guest’ through their exposure to local Thai traditions and cultures.

Our treks, run ‘off-the-beaten-track’ through the ancient forests in Koh Chang’s National Park, provide a great opportunity for interaction with local people at the nearby charitable and traditional ventures in the jungle. We offer an unparalleled insight into the local Thai culture of Koh Chang’s jungle, while our trekking groups, deliberately kept to small numbers, ensure we do not smother local jungle people.

The key to our philosophy is that we ensure our accommodation and business practices blend seamlessly into our natural surroundings as much as possible. This requires that both Jungle Way and its guests are appreciative and respect local people’s culture, traditions and religious beliefs.

Community Support

We engage and support all local-run groups that aim to protect and conserve the island against encroaching developments, and the side-effects on the native species of the island. We also are very supportive of local-run businesses, actively encouraging our guests to shop locally, and to avoid shopping in the larger chain shops. With new chain stores and supermarkets being continually built on Koh Chang, competition for trade is proving fiercely detrimental to small, local-run, businesses. Therefore, all of our food, drinks and produce are bought locally to ensure good trade relations between our business and trade in the local village.

Local Employment

All of our staff are from the local village of Klong Son. The only non-locals are therapists or teachers in yoga, meditation, reiki and massage. We do, however, aim to include as many locals as possible in all aspects of our traditional healing techniques.
