Klong Son Village

Klong Son is a small fishing village with a beautiful bay full of coral reefs and white sandy beaches. The beautiful views of the coconut plantations and the traditional Thai houses on the hills will long remain in your memories.

Kong Son beach stretches some 400m and is inarguably more attractive than nearby Sapparot Bay in terms of its tranquility, privacy, and safe swimming. Chang Noi beach is however, the closest to Jungle Way.

Klong Son itself is relatively untouched by tourism unlike nearby White Sands Beach, making it ideal for immersing yourself in local life. Klong Son is full of noodle houses and the village is within easy walking or cycling distance of Jungle Way.

Klong Son Temples

Religion plays a large role in the life of Thai people. Each Thai man should live as monk in a monastery one time in his life for at least three months. In order to follow his faith, there is at least one Buddhist temple (Wat) in each Thai village.

The local wat in Klong Son is located approximately 500m from the intersection in Klong Son, in the direction of the bay. There is also a Chinese Temple in Klong Son. It can be found at the top of the hill after Sapparot Bay (towards Klong Son).

When visiting, appropriate clothes should be worn in both temples. More...

Chang Noi Beach

Chang Noi beach and nearby island Chang Noi are the closest beaches to Jungle Way, again with tranquil white sandy beaches. The bay between Koh Chang Noi and Laem Chang Noi is abundant with coral and great for snorkelling. Ask Jungle Way for directions - the beach is within easy cycling distance, although we are only too happy to drop you at the beach. More...

King Cobra Waterfall

Only a 10 minute walk from Jungle Way, King Cobra is a small-sized waterfall with several cascades. Ask us for directions on how to get there for a cool afternoon dip in its bathing pools.

West Coast Beaches

The west coast of Koh Chang is dominated by white sandy beaches, the most popular (and most commercial...) of which is Hat Sai Khao, or White Sands Beach. With a long strip of powdery white sand and very shallow waters, it is no reason why this beach is so popular. It is also the first beach you pass on reaching the west coast of Koh Chang.
Klong Prao Beach, further south of White Sands Beach is lined with coconut trees but has a rocky landscape. Resort development has grown rapidly, however the beach itself does not get too crowded.
Further south of Klong Prao Beach is the last major beach on the west coast, Kai Bae. It has a sandy beach dotted with abundant palm trees providing plenty of shade. Small neighbouring islands are temptingly close to swim to.
Nearby Lonely Beach (Tha Nam Beach) was once legendary amongst backpackers for its isolation and deserted beach. The Tree House was the only accommodation available, however development in the last decade has seen an end to this sort of backpacker haven.

Bang Bao Village

Suffering a similar fate to that of Lonely Beach, Bang Bao was, up until recently, a quiet, traditional Thai fishing village. However, excessive development has put an end to the tranquility once enjoyed by Bang Bao. Despite this, most of Bang Bao's residents still live in houses built on stilts connected by wooden bridges. Bang Bao is a large centre for scuba dive trips, and boat charters to nearby islands, including Koh Mak.

Klong Plu Waterfall

A rewarding 20 minute hike leads to the large three-tiered Klong Plu waterfall, 3 kilometres south of Klong Prao Bay. Klong Plu Waterfall is one of the best known and most popular waterfalls due to its close proximity from Klong Prao and Kai Bae beaches. Most visitors stay at the first level only as the 10 metre fall is splendid. It becomes slippery and awkward to reach the two higher levels. Both swimming and camping are allowed here.
